I absolutely love reading, so I wanted to make a list for you (in no particular order) with all the books that I loved and would recommend you read as well. If you’re on a spiritual or self development journey these are books you should definitely read. Or if reading is not your thing, listen to podcasts or watch videos on the topic. This list is nowhere near completed and I’ll be adding books as I go. Let me know if you have any recommendations!
1. Atomic Habits by James Clear
This book changed the way I look at and structure my habits. While reading it, I realized that it has an overlap with affirmations and how they work (read the blog on the science behind affirmations here). A lot of us tend to overcomplicate things, habits being one of them. Atomic Habits describes an easy and proven way to build good habits and break bad ones; something I never thought I could do. It also explains the scientific side of why the things he says are true and if you know me, you know I love a good scientific explanation. The contents in this book changed my life and I highly recommend you read it too. Get Atomic Habits here.
2. Rich dad, Poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki
This book deserves a spot on this list, because of its brutal honesty. It’s eye opening and confrontational, but so good. If you start this book with an open mind and ready to learn, you’re good. If you’re looking for a way out of the matrix, this book is a very good start. It shifted my mindset towards money and how to deal with it. Many people struggle with their money mindset, Rich dad poor dad will definitely help you fix that. Or, at least, it’s a start. We need more enlightened people who are wealthy and have money. So, if you feel called, this book is definitely one you should read. Get Rich dad, Poor dad here.
3. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
This is actually the first book I read when I started my own spiritual journey and I must say; it did not disappoint. Big Magic is so well written and extremely inspiring. Its main topic is living creatively beyond fear. I once heard someone say “Money is on the other side of creativity, because we (as humans) are here to create” and this book describes that perfectly. Like I said, it’s very inspiring and it’s an ideal book to start with, because it’s also very down to earth (in case you’re still a bit wary of the ‘woowoo’ stuff). So I would 100% recommend this book. Get Big Magic here.
4. Good vibes, Good life by Vex King
This is also a very good book to start with if you’re still a bit wary of the ‘woowoo’ stuff. It really helped me understand energy and what it actually meant. I saw/heard people talking about energy all the time, but I never truly understood until I read this book. It’s very eye-opening in the self-love department, but also in some general spiritual topics like manifestation, the universe, mindset, beliefs and purpose. Lewis Howes said it well: “The perfect guide for those who are seeking a way out of the darkness and want to live a more beautiful life.” Because it really is. I’d definitely recommend you read this book at any stage of your journey really, but especially when you’re at the start. Get Good vibes, good life here.
5. The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
This is a very interesting book. It kind of has the same vibe as The Alchemist. It’s a very simply structured book, but it’s all so meaningful and true. It’s beautifully written with tons of inspiring lessons. The four agreements in the book are so simple that you start to question why we/you haven’t started living like this forever ago. It puts you back in the driver’s seat and makes you realize we’re the only ones responsible for our happiness and wellbeing. Great book to read at every stage of your journey. Get The Four Agreements here.
